"NEED REPAIR PENIS."
-Deanna Taylor
Instead of limiting this information to a friend of mine, I thought I'd make a post on my journal about it. The topic of the day: How to eat healthy.
First of all, it's not really a diet. I do not recommend people getting on diets--it defeats the whole purpose of having a healthy relationship with food. There are healthy food everywhere, it might be difficult because, mainly, most people do not know what they need to do. Atkins diet (No Carbs) will never work in Europe, never. The italians would never give up their pasta, the french their breads; it is plainly inappropriate.
It's my philosophy, not anyone else's (except for some from the book, The Fat Fallacy) in order to have healthy eating habits is to understand how your body processes food. Fat takes longer to digest than water. Banana takes longer to process than grapes. Those kind of nuances people should know because eating the right kinds of snacks will help you lose weight and feel better.
Fruits
Americans, in general, have an addiction to sugar and you are no exception. Junk foods have high, ridiculously high, amounts of sugar in them. Wean yourself off those foods by replacing them with fruits. Fruits have sugar, they actually are sweet.
Milkshakes are very good at curbing hunger for the next one or two hours because of the high fat contents in milk, yogurt, and the fruits (bananas especially). Instead of eating four reese cups, have a small cup of milkshake--you benefit better from it.
Fruits are good source of energy, especially orange juice. Drink juices in the morning to start your day instead of soft drinks (think caffeine crash by lunch--sleepiness after lunch). Add a couple of slices of apple along with your bagel, or even berries.
vegetables
This is not the best kind of food for everyone. Someone always dislike some form of vegetables, that's normal. Really.
One of the most common misconceptions people have about vegetables is that they must be green. That is not true. Orange, Yellow, and Red Bell Peppers have different nutrients than the green ones. Try radishes, baby spinaches, eggplants, avocados.
Don't be afraid to cook your vegetables, add spices to make it taste better, put cooked onions and peppers on your steak or chicken. Add eggs, peas, beans or whatever you like on your rice. Slice up some vegetables and put them with your ramen, that works too.
Corn on the other hand does not do too well for your body. In fact, your body does not digest corn. Eat this occassionally.
Don't be afraid to be creative with your food. Develop relationships with them. Learn different ways to slice them, to cook them.
Add them to junk food such as pizza, subs, hamburgers, etc.
Fats
Fats come in many many forms, but I'm talking specifically fats like cheese, milk, and that sort.
It is not bad kind of fat.
Actually, it helps with staving off hunger. Drinking a glass of milk before going to a party would help prevent you from looking like a fool eating all those finger foods. Cheese makes you full faster(think less food). The french adores their cheese and the italians put it in everything.
Yogurts are really good at keeping sickness at bay. especially during winters. Now please, fat free yogurts are less healthy than those with fat. Trust me.
Breads
Ask any European if they can live without bread. They would look at you as if you were some crazy fool and shake their head. Exactly my point.
Don't stop eating bread (I know they're loaded with carbs--a little fact: carbs are your body's source of energy). Switch to whole grain products, they have more fiber and are essential to your health. Makes you shit better.
eating bread in olive oil with basalmic vinegar is really good, especially if infused with spices. Add some cheese on top of the slices; Voila, you have a healthy snack. (Don't forget to eat a slice of apple or orange or whatever you like along with it.)
Conclusion
Basically, talk with yourself, list out what kind of foods you like and do not like. It is all in knowing what foods you are willing to throw away, save, modify. If you like fajitas, try adding a new vegetable, or find a new side to go with it.
Don't read other diets and think theirs would work for you, that is never true. What works for you is when you decide on what you need to do.
Ask yourself questions, can I add fruits to my cereals in the mornings? Peaches in my oatmeals, strawberries in my cereal? if So what kinds do I want?
What kinds of fruits do I like to eat raw? Would they be good snacks? In addition to which snack? What time those snacks are good for?
Challenge yourself--Since you are what you eat, who are you? What do you like? Go to the food store, look at the fresh produce, think of which meals you could add those to.
your health would greatly improve. Don't force yourself. I always thought it was stupid to think of food constantly, they are not your enemy and obviously most of you are not thinking of food in a romantic manner. Maybe that's the problem.
-Der Sankt Thu, Aug. 5th, 2004, 10:40 pm On writing...
I feel like a terrible writer. Don't waste your pity on me, I don't mind. Writing is like clay. It has to be modified into perfection.
Thoughts are imperfect. They can inspire, move, and be everything. Unfortunately, words are what speaks the thought.
A word is a piece, never the entire thought. No, it cannot be. A thought is a picture. It moves, it speaks, it does. Words cannot.
A writer must concentrate on that. Selecting words that best represent the thought. They might not match exactly, for words must convey rational concept.
A thought is random. Thu, Jul. 29th, 2004, 01:02 am poem
If this is a nation so free I can dream whatever I can be Then why do I feel hopeless
If it is my right to be free and pursue my own happiness Then why am I trapped in misery
Bound by inalienable rights preordained by God and none else to every citizen in America
I do not believe in God and such I do not think of Christ and so and this is my prison. I cannot be.
My pleasures illegal yet do no harm My beliefs strong and so wrong Freedom, Justice, and Equality
For a land filled with futures and so much wealth yet to come why do I feel I must be so poor
With opporturnities knocking and chances dropping along Then why do they not enter the door
I have opened and I have dreamt I have fought and I have gained and still, I feel un-American
No longer American.
Mr. Senator Kerry,
As much as I would hate for the president to win the next term, I do not think you have what it takes to overpower Mr. Bush. First things first, you do not have the status of a power player in the international arena, Mr. Bush doesKeep this in mind, Mr. Kerry, that Mr. Bush's opponents opposes him with a ferverent manner; unfortunately, none of them truly endorses you. Therefore, you do not have the backing or the opposistion from the international politicians--your name does not roll off their lips so easily.
Secondly, do not run your campaign on how Americans should be Americans. Our President is already making me feel bad for not being a good God-fearing christian who fears then hate the whole world. Enough of that. Those are his people, do not be trying to steal them off.
Third, and probably the most important to me, is this: why do you underestimate the power of youth? Do you not realize that any being who captivates youth and holds dear to it, usually has the most success. The Beatles still hasn't lost their followings, neither have many others. I still haven't seen you try to get me to vote for you.
Again, you underestimate the power of the youth in America. Everyone in the Capitol forgets that our opinions are just as fierce as those who are getting social security. We chose not to vote, not to entertain your notions of better country because you do not include us. No, Mr. Senator, do not deny that.
Of course, that is stupidity on our behalf; I mean, how do we expect justice and respect for ourselves if we do not vote. Let's not forget, a vote is a signature on the contract we have with you, the government. When there is enough angry non-voters in Universities, a few things could happen...
"We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal..." A revolution.
(I would die happy if a revolution is what I must tell my grandchildren about.)
I digress. Mr Kerry, don;t underestimate us, we shall replace you. Do not campaign on same grounds as the President, you are not fighting against the country. Political bickering leaves no room for improvement. It has been said that no ex-president has publicily spoke against the current president, Mr. Clinton included, why should you? You were never a president and at this rate, never will be.
There is another issue I feel I have to be concerned about: If you win, Hillary Clinton will not be able to run for the next eight years. Tsk. A stronger person being put on hold for someone who looks like he is permanently stuck on a board.
Mr. Kerry, I am a twenty year old American, and my place as a voter tells me that you must serve and meet my needs. You have yet to do that.
-Der Sankt
My name is Ben Vess and I am an American.
I have a father who is in jail for trying to lure a thirteen year old girl from the internet. He does not have his rights as an American citizen while incarcerated. If he gets married during his time in jail, his relationship will be recognized and blessed by America.
I do not have that right.
I am a college student on a break like many others in this world. I have graduated from high school. I drive a car and work a norml job. I pay my fucking taxes just like everyone else.
My rights as an American is limited, not like everyone else.
I feel that it is important that I put an emphasiasm on my name: it is Ben Vess. A living being with a name like humans signify the fact that each of them are individuals. I am not merely gay, I am an American, I am white, I am a boy, I am a son, a brother. First and foremost, my name is Ben Vess.
Why do you feel you deserve more rights than I do? Aren't you an American, just like me?
I do not ask you to accept who I am. I merely ask for recognition. I recognize straight people, although they do not appeal to me. I recognize criminals, although they deserve their rights to be deprived. I recognize christians and muslims, although i disagree with their cultistic styles of beliefs. I recognize but do not always accept them. I am Ben Vess, will you recognize me as an individual?
Do I deserve the same right as every other American citizen to life, property, and pursuit of happiness?
Is it self-evident that we are created equal?
This is a rather important information for Americans who feel we shouldn't get involved with the Arab nations. Here's an e-mail I got:
Below are the actual voting records of various Arabic/Islamic States which are recorded in both the US State Department and United Nations' records. Kuwait votes against the United States 67% of the time. Qatar votes against the United States 67% of the time. Morocco votes against the United States 70% of the time. United Arab Emirates votes against the U. S. 70% of the time. Jordan votes against the United States 71% of the time. Tunisia votes against the United States 71% of the time.
Saudi Arabia votes against the United States 73% of the time.
Yemen votes against the United States 74% of the time Algeria votes against the United States 74% of the time. Oman votes against the United States 74% of the time Sudan votes against the United States 75% of the time. Pakistan votes against the United States 75% of the time. Libya votes against the United States 76% of the time. Egypt votes against the United States 79% of the time. Lebanon votes against the United States 80% of the time. India votes against the United States 81% of the time. Syria votes against the United States 84% of the time. Mauritania votes against the United States 87% of the time. US Foreign Aid to those that hate us: Egypt, for example, after voting 79% of the time against the United States, still receives $2 billion annually in US Foreign Aid. Jordan votes 71% against the United States and receives $192,814,000 annually in US Foreign Aid. Pakistan votes 75% against the United States receives $6,721,000 annually in US Foreign Aid. India votes 81% against the United States receives $143,699,000 annually in US Foreign Aid. Perhaps it is time to get out of the UN and give the tax savings back to the American workers who are having to skimp and sacrifice to pay the taxes. Pass it along. Everyone needs to know this. Might even mention it to your congressman, who knows it anyway...what a disgrace...no wonder the world has no respect for us!
(Der Sankt speaking now) Because of those statistics, I most certainly do assure you that since it is the american's taxpayers' money that's funding their medival little pathetic countries, their government has no business saying that they cannot comply with us.
It's our Allah-damned right, not theirs.
-Der Sankt Wed, May. 12th, 2004, 02:54 pm Insane
I thought it'd be nice to post my progress of researching audism:
I have been doing a lot of reading, it is insane. Right now, I am highlighting important information in Harlan Lane's Mask of Benevolence. The book is, supposedly, the earliest record of a published work containing the concept and the word of Audism. Keep in mind this is published in 1992.
The earlier version comes from Humphries' unpublished dissertation; hence, the reason why it has a rather insignificant value to the research. Published works, in my opinion, allow room for criticism and improvement. Humphries did not do that, therefore he cannot have the credit he should deserve.
after reading a lot of stuff I've decided on a definite definition of Audism:
(noun) an act of prejudice or discrimination against an individual or a group based on their audiological abilities.
I know that the definition will not be approved by everyone in the deaf community; however, earlier definitions seem to be flimsy, "Audism is defined as an attitude based on pathological thinking which results in a negative stigma towards anyone who does not hear; like racism or sexism, audism judges, labels and limits individuals on the basis of whether a person hears and speak." (Humphrey and Alcorn, 1995:85)
Since audism is being compared to sexism and racism, I felt that it was rather important to look up the meaning of those words. For sexism--discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of the opposite sex and for racism--the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races. (ask.com). Since both definitions did not target a specific audience, audism should follow the same suit as an discrimination based on audiological abilities rather than hearing against deaf.
I've defined the word now I'm taking it apart. . .
Feedbacks are more than welcome!
-Der Sankt Tue, May. 11th, 2004, 02:32 pm a new word
I had originally planned on writing an elaborate entry regarding the definition of Audism as it may seem with the general deaf population. Due to the fact that the word itself has not yet been placed in the dictionaries, it is painfully obvious that the deaf community is lacking in terms of promoting what needs to be promoted.
I am doing a research to define audism in an unbiased manner and I was wondering if any of you out there would like to be of any assistance--do bother me.

I simply cannot believe how some people would go as far as to adopt a primitive type of diet. A person in Africa cannot have the same diet as those in Siberia. Now, eating like cave people--what kind of common sense is that--one must not forget the other fine details that comes with diet. Cavemen did not survive as well as the modern man. Our foods are imported internationally. Pasteurized milk is for a reason--the milk must be delivered to the masses without spoiling. The most basic of all food pyramids are the carbohydrates--wheat, grains, etc. That alone makes bread a necessity in a good diet.
Cooking is rather important as well. Every culture is known to cook at least some of its cuisines. To say that cooking one's food will deprive one from one's nutrititional benefits is far from accurate.
Good nutritent comes from good common sense, not how-to books. If you are fat, then you have been sitting down for too long. Get up and move it. Cavemen were not known for their automobiles.
Changing your diet on a frequent basis (which applies to almost every American) does more harm than good to the body, hands down. For every diet one goes on, one must realize that one is depriving oneself of certain things the body needs; then, to switch off to a new diet deprives the body of another important thing---such changes does weaken the immune system and increases the body's fat intake.
Eat whatever you please, get off the computer at least one hour for a simple walk around the block. See some friends at least once a week.
It is simple activities that one takes on that makes all the difference.
"I took the road less traveled/And that has made all the difference." Robert Frost.
I dare you: Stop with the diet bullshit and use your brain.

Living in DC can be quite humbling at times. There is a sharp, recognizable difference between the poor and those who have money. I realize that I probably live in one of the cheapest apartments (rentwise) in the city and it actually shows.
My street is infested with drug dealers: some selling crack cocaine, some sell weed, mostly both. It is because of their presence so near to my front door that the addicts come.
It is raining today, though. They are gone. They will suffer the cold, snow, and ice; but, not the rain.
I must admit that it is convienient when I need a dime of weed and it is readily available. I just wish that the addicts of whom are women wouldn't go as far as to prositute themselves off in front of my house. I remember once, a tall lanky black lady, light skinned actually, she had all the signs that pointed to severe addiction (sagged eyes, caved in cheeks, muttering) offered to sell a pair of used socks for a dollar.
I had to say no. Wed, Feb. 4th, 2004, 03:02 pm Dear Readers,

I am falling hard for Greek literature...It is amazing...I love Sophocles' Antigone.
I've already read four of Plato's Dialogues (including the ones regarding the death of Socrates).
Simply breathtaking...

While my body yearns for your touch and my mind for your stimulation The saints all cry "Holy, Holy, Holy." When my heart cries for you, my Love.
Their foolish philosophy to measure the sheer amount of love I have for you unravels and fall like brittle stars Remembered as yesterdays all should be.
My love, thou art my muse, a divine soul My love, thou art my gift from the Almighty Should they condemn me for such passion then it should be so to make me forever true.
And saints say: "Holy, holy, be his Name." My sacred convention, my soul's bond preordained and blessed by God and filled of my love for you, I should live forever
And it must be, you shall live a day longer thy memory hides in the pockets of time and there it will never grow old nor dull: The very source of my fiery true love. Mon, Jan. 12th, 2004, 12:56 am Hah!
Today my mom and I painstakingly created the perfect purse for me...
It is utterly beautiful...

The Raver's Dance
In motion with emotion.
In disorientation with inspiration.
Like one two three feeling free.
With personification of celebration.
In commotion with devotion.
Starting today, I am commencing a series of Der Sankt's Studies of the Bible. I have been studying the holy text for a few days now, bits of this and that, of course. After reading it, I realized that I have my own questions, my own arguments about it--rather than using outside sources to debunk its credibility, I am going to use the text against itself. This is purely out of curiousity and if you feel you will be offended whatsoever, don't waste our time. I rather academic debates than religious fights over the validity of interpretations. Also, this is not at all professional or should be used for important stuff like research or whatnot, it is entirely personal--my own thing at my own time. Merci. -Der Sankt
I thought it would be fitting to start off at the begining:
According to the Bible (Genesis 1:1-4), before earth's existence was acknowledged by the Almighty, there was darkness and His visage. As stated in 1:4, "And God saw the light, that it was good," the association of darkness is with evil. If we go to the philosophical controversy of good and evil, it should be easily identified that the earth was created evil, not good. By that association, it is safe to make the assumption that evil prevailed before the existence of good and will continue to do so long after the light has gone. This is solely based on the association preordained by the Almighty, himself. As to the popular belief that God is purely good, untainted from evil then according to the Holy Bible, God's spoken word: God will cease to exist. So, Nietzsche was almost right. God isn't dead yet, but will be. Wed, Dec. 17th, 2003, 09:00 pm I'm Back
Poem of the day:
Coming Out
Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong and that I'm not thinking right.
I don't care anymore if I'm immoral and that I'm going to hell.
I don't think you know the life in the closet and that it's really small.
I'll go ahead and say you're wrong and that I'm fucking your son.
